Do You Deserve to Look Beautiful?

I know that’s kind of a crazy question. And the answer of course is; yes, yes, YES! you absolutely deserve to look beautiful.

My bigger question here may be this; Do YOU believe that you deserve it? Deserve to not only to look beautiful, but to feel beautiful also?

You may think that having great style is all about choosing the right clothes, with the best fit… and while that’s definitely part of it, it isn’t the most important part. Style is about much more than how you look. The fundamental component to mastering your personal style lies in how you feel about yourself.

Style is 50% about clothes and 50% about you! It’s impossible to feel in alignment with your appearance if you’re not in alignment with who you are as a person.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard women say;

‘There’s no way I can pull that off!’

or ‘I just need to lose these last 15 lbs, and then I’ll buy new clothes.’

or ‘I’m just not the fashionable type.’

or ‘I don’t have time to care about what I wear, I have more important things to worry about.’

Any of these sound familiar to you? Well, guess what? NONE of these statements are true!

These are statements made by women who are scared… afraid to be seen, because somewhere in their life they began to believe that who they are isn’t good enough. That they don’t deserve the be-the-best-version-of-you spotlight.

And this makes me so, so sad… but it’s also the exact reason why I do what I do.  My mission with my work is to let as many women in the world know this simple fact: Every. Single. Woman on this planet deserves to feel as beautiful as they are! This doesn’t make you shallow or superficial. This feeling is your God given right.

So if you find yourself hiding and holding back from stepping into the fullness of your beauty, here are a few things you can do to re-connect with that part of yourself

Honor and show gratitude to your body daily

This can be in the form of exercise, massage, eating healthy, nourishing food, or even simply saying ‘Thank you’ to your body, daily.

Ditch the standard definition of beauty and create your own

This is what causes us so much turmoil… trying to live up to someone else’s definition of beauty. No one else’s definition matters here but yours. You are one of a kind so, how can your beauty be like anyone else’s? Have you ever thought about what beautiful looks like to you? Spend time exploring what that is, and compile a bunch of visuals that you can refer back to over and over again, as needed.

Write a letter to the part of you that needs healing

Yup, you read that right. Write a letter to yourself. A letter showing yourself a little compassion, a little forgiveness and a whole lot of love. It so easy to go down that rabbit hole of negative mind chatter about all the things you did wrong, or that suck about you. It’s so important to counteract this negativity, with kind, heartfelt, loving words to yourself. Write about all the things that make you amazing and magical, and of course beautiful. If you don’t see the beauty in yourself first, no one else’s perspective/opinion will ever matter. Consider this a love letter to you, by you :)

In the end, my wish is for you is this; that you see, and step into the power + beauty that belongs to you as a woman. You are here to shine… as bright as you possibly can. You are here to share with the world that special thing that only you have to share. Because the more confident you show up in your life, day in and day out, the greater impact you’ll have on those who need you most, and most importantly, the happier + more at peace you’ll be within yourself.

Before I go, let me ask you this: When was the last time you felt beautiful? Please share your story with me in the comments below…I can’t wait to read about it.

  1. Great post! So true in so many levels, we try to hide who we are because we’re afraid to not meet the standards of beauty. There’s nothing better than to love ourselves as we are perfectly imperfect. We are all enough and beautiful!
